Father in heaven,
We pray today for our brothers and sisters who are traveling from our land to another. Those who have given this small portion of their time and treasure to venture from a place of riches to a place of poverty. We come to you today, Father, to ask many things of You, but not for ourselves, but for those who will be touched by their hands.
We ask that You give these travelers safety, both in the air and on the ground, whatever their mode of transportation. We ask that You work in the hearts and minds of all people that surround them, and fill them with a spirit of cooperation for their mission.
We ask that You touch their hands, so that Your touch might be felt through them in some measure. Give them health and strength and rest so that they might best be able to touch and to listen and to feel and to love and to know and to reveal and to minister.
We ask that You watch over their technology, so that they can communicate their stories back to those who need to hear. Touch the hearts of all of us being left behind so that we can know how You would have us to be a part of this work.
We ask that You watch over and provide for the families they will leave behind, the husbands and wives and little ones who will remain. Give them patience and peace and love, knowing their loved ones are gone to do Your work.
May Your gospel be preached, both in word and deed, action and attitude throughout this entire venture. May hope be restored to those who are living in darkness, both here and in Uganda, and both inside and outside the church walls.
Go before Your servants, Lord, we ask in the Holy name of Christ Jesus.
Amen.
