confess Worship Confessional: February 24. 2008

We’ve been having a great time as we continue to venture through our iLife series. (See my iLife posts for more on that.)

I’ve been greatly challenged over the last few weeks. I’ve had input from a lot of different sources, and have found some lines of communication, both old and new, opened up for me. A week that started out pretty tough last week ended up being one of the most blessed weeks I’ve experienced in a long time. Some of you who are reading this had a part in that, and I thank you dearly for it.

On the surface, yesterday’s worship schedule looks to be pretty tame and business as usual. In fact, for anyone who’s been intimately involved in our journey through the spiritual disciplines found themselves very challenged by the music and message. I am in this mode during this series to give the people what they need in worship, not what they want. I guess I always strive to do that, but for now I’m being more pointed in my selection.

Next week will be the challenge. We’re focusing on fasting, and will be observing Communion together.

Here’s yesterday’s list:

  • To God be the Glory // Fanny J. Crosby (traditional)
  • Holy is the Lord // Tomlin & Giglio
  • I Must Tell Jesus // Elisha A. Hoffman (FBC Euless/Kim Knoblitt arr.)
  • Seek Ye First // Karen Lafferty
  • Change My Heart, O God // Eddie Espinosa
  • Create in Me A Clean Heart // Author Unknown
  • Center // Charlie Hall
  • Whiter Than Snow // James Nicholson & William Fisher
