My new experience was a foot washing. Last night our church observed communion, and as part of our current iLife series we were studying submission. We took the time to practice foot washing as a way of practically modeling submission.
For me, it was a humbling experience, but satisfying at the same time. As we washed one another’s feet we said the words, “As I submit myself to you, I serve my Lord.” There’s something about recognizing that we were willingly submitting ourselves to one another.
I would definitely like to do it again.
