This will be a strange confessional, in that I don’t have a lot of details for you. This was an extrememly busy week between organizing and hosting a worship retreat and organizing a ministry fair.
Rehearsal and sound check both went very well. We worked on some further refinement of our overall sound, and were pleased with the clarity we were able to bring to the mix. I think we really took great strides towards a more “up front” presence without a louder volume.
As far as the service time itself goes, something pretty strange happened, but it was a wondrous thing. I don’t know if it was the combination of the spiritual high I was on from our retreat, or the extreme tiredness from whole week, but I was pretty much only there in body Sunday morning.
As we began the morning, something happened to me that rarely happens. I really couldn’t tell you how the crowd reacted to the music and message, I couldn’t tell you if there were any mistakes or glitches, I couldn’t tell you how it sounded overall. Why? Because I experienced a completely uninhibited time of personal worship that transcended any of those things.
I was completely caught up in worshiping God and standing in His presence, so I have no clue what else happened yesterday morning during the corporate worship time. If a New Hope member reads this, please tell me how it was, because I don’t have a clue.
Here’s the set list (it’s something of a Hillsongs fest):
- Take My Life and Let it Be // Frances Havergal
- Trust and Obey // Sammis & Towner
- Saviour King // Fieldes & Sampson
- You Are My Strength // Reuben Morgan
- The Potter’s Hand // Darlene Zschech
- I Give My All to You // Kaori Honda
