This week’s iLife discipline focus was worship. I love that we took an entire day to focus on what is the theme of my blog ;) . I think we had a great time. I did something I would not usually do, and that is cancel rehearsal for the week. Why? Two reasons. First, Sunday was a choir focused day, so no praise team singers, so no need for vocal rehearsal. Second, the music was either all extremely familiar or extrememly easy or both, so again no need for band rehearsal.

We met at our usual sound check time and things went nearly flawlessly. The gathering time went well also, even though we didn’t push any boundaries or anything. That, actually, was part of the point. We really wanted to emphasize that worship is not just the music part of one hour, one day a week. Every song was purposefully chosen to emphasize that idea.

Here’s the list:

  • Worthy of Worship // York & Blankenship
  • Made to Worship // Tomlin, Cash, Sharp
  • The Heart of Worship // Matt Redman
  • Here I Am to Worship // Tim Hughes
  • Our God Reigns // Leonard E. Smith, Jr.

As a side note, in related music/worship news, the beloved song-writer Dottie Rambo was killed in a bus accident early yesterday morning. She is remembered for great songs like “He Looked Beyond My Fault” and “We Shall Behold Him.” Now, there’s one more voice in the heavenly choir singing around the throne.
