Bring on the Summer heat! June 1, and we’re already in the mid 90s here in North Texas. Combine beautiful, hot, sunny weather with school being out for summer and you know what that means. Everybody who can gets out of town. Funny thing yesterday was when we started the first song, the auditorium was very sparse, but before the end of the second song there were twice as many people. We were still down about a third or more for average attendance, but it was better than I expected.
With the iLife series over, I’m back to thematic planning around whatever the Spirit brings to mind. For this Sunday, the theme (in my head at least) was Hope. This came from the iPod being on shuffle during a game night with the kids early last week (Bugolpoly rocks!), and the song “My Hope” came up. That was it, I was sold. Here’s the set-list:
- I Will Call Upon the Lord // Michael O’Shields (when’s the last time you did that one?)
- The Solid Rock // More and Bradbury (Charlie Hall/Passion version)
- Unchanging // Tomlin
- Because He Lives // Gaither (a little Gospel swing!)
- My Hope // Anne Barbour
- You Never Let Go // Crowder
Looks like we scored the Passion trifecta of Hall, Tomlin and Crowder.
