Give me a Revelation…

20080528083545_0_revelation-150x150 Give me a Revelation...Hey all! I’m taking part in Third Day’s Street Week to help promote their new album. Honestly, this is not something I would normally do, even for a band as awesome as Third Day. So, let me tell you why I’m jumping into the mix.

I’ve been listening to the new album, Revelation, for a few days now, and haven’t been able to really give it a full listen through. This is due, in part, to just being busy, but also in part because I just can’t get past one particular song on the album. The first time I heard it, I just had to hit replay on my iPod over and over, because it said exactly what has been going on in my head and heart for a while.

If you’re a regular reader of this blog, it’s no secret that the tone has changed in recent weeks. I’m struggling with some things, and searching for God’s direct leading on my place in His kingdom. When I heard these lyrics, it was like someone had read my heart and set it to music.

“Give me a revelation,
Show me what to do
Cause I’ve been trying to find my way,
I haven’t got a clue
Tell me should I stay here,
Or do I need to move
Give me a revelation
I’ve got nothing without You
I’ve got nothing without You”

Here’s why I believe in “Christian” music, if for no other reason. It is in times like these, when someone out there has a relationship with Christ like I do, and has given their talent and time over for the Lord’s use, that they pour their heart out into their art and it is directly in tune with my own.

I still don’t have the answers to the questions I’ve been asking God lately, but when I hear this song, I am comforted that there are others who are also crying out to the very same God. He will hear and answer their prayer and mine just like He’s answered so many millions throughout all time.

Get yourself to the local music store, or to iTunes, and buy this record. I think you’ll be glad you did. This is old school Third Day doing what they do best: some good ol’ gritty Southern rock n’ roll.
