worshipconfessional Worship Confessional: August 3, 2008

It was good to be back in the saddle yesterday after a vacation the previous Sunday. Our crowd was extremely low, even for a summertime service. Maybe it was the combination of the record breaking heat and the pastor being out of town that did the trick. I also know there were quite a few folks out for vacation, so that gives you hit as well.

I took the opportunity to share my heart for our church with the church yesterday, and I hope it was received in the spirit with which it was given. I may or may not write up a post with what I said. Above all, I am needfully reminded that it is not the words or works of man, but rather the Spirit of God that brings about change in the hearts of His people. I pray for openness to His leading and direction, not only in their lives, but in mine also.

Singing-wise, I saw more participation than usual, which was a pretty big thing for such a small crowd. I’m looking foward to what the next few weeks hold. Pray for our music next, as my wife will be out of town. I rely on her heavily musically, so I have to rearrange some things to try and bridge that gap she usually more than fills in.

Here’s the set-list:

  • Come, Thou Fount // Wyeth & Robertson (Crowder style)
  • At the Cross // Watts & Hudson
  • Saviour King // Sampson & Fieldes
  • I Surrender All // VanDeVenter & Weeden
  • Amazing Grace (My Chains are Gone) // Newton, Excell, Rees, Tomlin, Giglio
  • Give Us Clean Hands // Charlie Hall

This is a part of Sunday Setlists at fredmckinnon.com.
