worshipconfessional Worship Confessional: August 17, 2008

Somewhat of a sad day yesterday. I’m filled with mixed emotions about yesterday probably being the last day we’ll get to hear our lead guitarist and his wife perform in our church (at least for a long time).

I’ve mentioned him before, he’s the one who’s an infectious disease researcher that often travels back and forth to Kenya to oversee AIDS efforts in that country. He’s had some trying times with his current employers seeing the big picture and releasing him to use his skills where he is best suited. The Lord has greatly answered his prayers, and is sending him to a hospital that will not only allow him to do what he was made to do, but they’re going to support his efforts financially as well.

Unfortunately for us, that means they are moving away. I won’t go into details here, but we’ll have ample opportunity to see them on a semi-regular basis, but it’s really sad that we won’t be able to play and minister and live with one another at the same level as before. I wish them well in everything God is doing in them and through them as they continue to use their medical talents to help those in need around the world.

So, if you’re a lead guitarist living in the northern DFW area, a believer looking for a local church in which to use your talents, we have an opening.

Overall, it was a good service. Things seemed to flow well, but our attendance is still down somewhat. Maybe it’s last minute vacationing/sleeping in before school starts.

Here’s yesterday’s set list:

  • My Savior’s Love // Charles H. Gabriel (jazzy version)
  • O How He Loves You and Me // Kurt Kaiser (this songwriter’s name is ironic for those of you in the know)
  • There is a Fountain // Cowper and Mason (updated in modern worship style)
  • Wonderful Maker // Redman and Tomlin
  • Unfailing Love // Tomlin, Pierson, Cash

This is also a part of Sunday Setlists
