Worship Confessional: November 2, 2008

worshipconfessional Worship Confessional: November 2, 2008

I’m going to try this idea of posting my confessional the day of the event. I don’t usually do this because it takes me a day or so to really process my Sunday AM experience. I’m sure most of you in ministry can relate when I say I’m usually emotionally, physically and mentally spent by the time I get home for lunch. Since we have a Sunday evening gathering, it’s usually all I can do to put my clothes on and drag my self back for round two. I don’t know how the mega church peeps with t three to seven services every weekend aren’t just beyond exhaustion on Monday morning.

We had a good day for the day after time change. I guess the “fall backward” day is always easier to adjust to than the “spring forward” one. We had quite a few visitors today, both first time and returning. I think we’re about to enter another one of those seasons where we get a whole bunch of people who decide to connect to our church but will never join or get involved beyond attendance. I’m never sure how to take that “method” of church attendance. I just don’t know what to make of it.

The praise team sounded really good today. I don’t know if it was a better mix than usual or the extra hour of sleep, but there were some pretty awesome harmonies being thrown down today. Can I bottle that for next week?

We wrapped up our “Campaign Promises” series today since the election is this coming Tuesday. I hope we all come away with a better perspective that our hope is not in any man or office but in the King of the universe Who is always faithful to His promises.

Here’s our set-list:

  • All Hail King Jesus // Dave Moody
  • All Hail the Power // Edward Perronet, Oliver Holden
  • You Never Let Go // Matt & Beth Redman
  • You Alone // David Crowder
  • Here I am to Worship (bridge and chorus only) // Tim Hughes
  • Facedown // Matt Redman
