Somewhat of a sad day yesterday. I'm filled with mixed emotions about yesterday probably being the last day we'll get to hear our lead guitarist and his wife perform in our church (at least for a long time). I've mentioned him before, he's the one who's an infectious disease researcher that often travels back and forth to Kenya to oversee AIDS efforts in that country. Like many of you, I was completely taken in Friday night by the spectacle that was the opening ceremonies of the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing, China. The fireworks were breathtaking, the choreography and synchronicity were stellar, and the music was beautiful, haunting, and perfectly appropriate for the event. Wow, this is starting to feel like music promotion sell-out week. I assure you, no money has changed hands in the making of these posts. It was good to be back in the saddle yesterday after a vacation the previous Sunday. Our crowd was extremely low, even for a summertime service.
