10.06.08Worship Confessional: Sunday, October 5, 2008How about I start out by going from the very negative to the positive? I had a horrible week last week. Wednesday morning (and the days before) I felt great, but after lunch I couldn't sit upright in my office chair for an hour. I went home and went to bed. I'm still not really sure what was going on. I had a stuffy head/chest, runny nose, scratchy throat, nausea and a headache. 09.29.08Worship Confessional: Sunday, September 28, 2008We had a great day yesterday. Long story short, there were several visiting families, some of them repeat visitors. We wrapped up our "The Lord is My Shepherd" series, and so now I have the challenge of scheduling the next month out thematically. We had two teens walk the aisle, one proclaiming his faith in Christ, the other accepting Christ as Lord and Savior. You can't get any better than that! 09.22.08Worship Confessional: September 21, 2008We had a great day yesterday. I had more answer to my prayer about choir, and we had an 80% full choir loft in addition to a full complement of praise team singers yesterday. It was SO great to hear the choir behind me again during worship. It add so much to the overall experience. I feel like those of us who are on stage play and sing better. 09.15.08Worship Confessional: September 14, 2008We were into part 2 of our series, The Lord is My Shepherd, and I had another day of confirmation that I chose the right music for the day. The central though for the sermon was from Isaiah 53:6, "All we like sheep have gone astray...," and so much of our music had that as an idea. The best choice probably would have been "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" with the line "prone to wander, Lord I feel it, prone to leave the God I love," but that song is overdone here, so I stayed away from it. 09.09.08Flash ReviewsI was selected some time ago as an Ooze Select Blogger, and I've been somewhat remiss in my duties as a reviewer. I'm going to make a concerted effort to rectify that situation. 09.08.08Worship Confessional: September 7, 2008We had a pretty good day yesterday. Numerically, we seemed to be about the same as the last few weeks, which is slightly up from previous months. What I felt was a wonderful thing is a partial answer to a specific prayer I've had for quite a while—that our members would make a concerted effort each week to invite friends/family/neighbors to church with them. 09.01.08Worship Confessional: August 31, 2008I'm home today with a migraine, so this week's confessional will get right to the point. Our day yesterday was a special "family" Lord's Supper. We made real special effort to get the word out about this event, and encouraged families to attend that maybe we had not seen for a while. All in all, our numbers were a little up. We observed communion in a way completely foreign to our church. 08.24.08Worship Confessional: August 24, 2008We had our back to school crowd today, along with quite a few visitors. We started off with a pretty popular song for our folks, one written and taught to us by traveling artist/speaker David Crain. It's funny how a church seems to take ownership of songs from a visiting artist. 08.18.08Worship Confessional: August 17, 2008Somewhat of a sad day yesterday. I'm filled with mixed emotions about yesterday probably being the last day we'll get to hear our lead guitarist and his wife perform in our church (at least for a long time). I've mentioned him before, he's the one who's an infectious disease researcher that often travels back and forth to Kenya to oversee AIDS efforts in that country. He's had some trying times with his current employers seeing the big picture and releasing him to use his skills where he is best suited.
