Worship Confessional: September 7, 2008
Comments Published September 8th, 2008 in Music, Worship, Worship ConfessionalsWe had a pretty good day yesterday. Numerically, we seemed to be about the same as the last few weeks, which is slightly up from previous months. What I felt was a wonderful thing is a partial answer to a specific prayer I’ve had for quite a while—that our members would make a concerted effort [...]

I’m home today with a migraine, so this week’s confessional will get right to the point.
Our day yesterday was a special “family” Lord’s Supper. We made real special effort to get the word out about this event, and encouraged families to attend that maybe we had not seen for a while. All in all, our [...]

We had our back to school crowd today, along with quite a few visitors. We started off with a pretty popular song for our folks, one written and taught to us by traveling artist/speaker David Crain. It’s funny how a church seems to take ownership of songs from a visiting artist.
Both rehearsal on Thursday and [...]

Somewhat of a sad day yesterday. I’m filled with mixed emotions about yesterday probably being the last day we’ll get to hear our lead guitarist and his wife perform in our church (at least for a long time).
I’ve mentioned him before, he’s the one who’s an infectious disease researcher that often travels back and forth [...]

Ever have one of those days where something going wrong, that could have potentially ruined you entire day, actually turned out for the better? Yesterday was one of those days.
My wife’s been out of town since Wednesday, and I’ll admit something every married man knows to be true. I’m a much better person all around [...]

Comments Published August 4th, 2008 in Authenticity, Music, Worship, Worship ConfessionalsIt was good to be back in the saddle yesterday after a vacation the previous Sunday. Our crowd was extremely low, even for a summertime service. Maybe it was the combination of the record breaking heat and the pastor being out of town that did the trick. I also know there were quite a few [...]

Pretty low day in attendance yesterday, typical for a sunny July weekend I suppose. I’m going to be a little more transparent than usual with this post so hold onto your hat. This is actually going to be a confessional.
Over the last five years in my current place of service, we’ve been working on a [...]

This is the first time I’ve sat in fronte of a computer for more than a couple of minutes all day. We’re gearing up for our Independence Day evening of fun at the church this coming Sunday (two days after the fact, I know). So, I don’t know how much I’ll be posting this week.
Isn’t [...]

Comments Published June 23rd, 2008 in Music, Worship, Worship ConfessionalsYesterday was the start of VBS, so the entire platform was all decorated with Hawaiian decor, and many of us were wearing Hawaiian shirts and such. One of the cool benefits of the setting was the lack of pulpit (yes, we still have a pulpit). I’m going to be really honest here, no offence to [...]
Some updates and an apology
Comments Published June 17th, 2008 in Announcements, Authenticity, Music, Musings, Worship, prayerHey everyone. Thank you for all the prayers for my mother-in-law and the family. Her surgery went extraordinarily well. They ended up needing to do fewer bypasses than originally thought, and she is ahead of schedule on her recovery.
The surgery kept getting pushed back, and was finally performed yesterday morning. She should be in a [...]
